Mamas groups in focus these past weeks 💛
From financial literacy workshops and empowerment sessions to art therapy, English courses, media training, and so much more : inspiring growth, connection, and confidence every step of the way.
Happy weekend ✨
To the wonderful preschool teachers who keep our little ones safe, loved, and learning every day: Thank you 🤍
For all that you bring and all that you give, we appreciate you more than words can say.
What a blessing is to encounter souls pure in growth, joy and light. To ones who joined our home, and gave us motivation to go forward in what we believe:
Thank you, and may your journeys always be blessed and bright, ❤️
Behind every milestone at Laboma is the dedication of our incredible on-ground team. These are the people who show up, do the hard work, and make things happen - day after day. We say to them:
“Your commitment, resilience, and belief in real change are what turn ideas into impact. You don’t just start conversations; you carry them forward and ensure they continue to create meaningful outcomes.
We’re deeply grateful for the energy, heart, and integrity you bring to everything you do. This journey is possible because of you, and today we celebrate your hard work, your spirit, and the change you’re building on the ground.” ❤️
Here’s to the people who truly make it happen.
We are truly thankful for Fiamma, whose thoughtful contributions to curriculum and gentle approach made a lasting difference in our learning community.
Her kind spirit touched our classrooms, our home, and our hearts. 💛
In ongoing women’s program, capacity building is not delivered from the outside in, it is co-constructed based on real, local needs. Local mamas bring lived experience, community insight, and resilience; global Agents of Change contribute technical expertise and new methods. Together, they build learning environments that are practical, relevant, and rooted in local priorities.
The current cycle includes hands-on vocational training, enterprise development, marketing workshops, mapping of existing opportunities and realities, and communication skills. The focus is on strengthening women’s ability to run sustainable businesses, test new ideas, build confidence and lead their own economic strategies.
This approach centres women as decision-makers. The goal is not temporary support, but durable capacity: skills that translate into income, confidence, and leadership long after the sessions end.
Why it matters:
❗️Because when women take part in informing training they receive, the outcomes reflect their stories and realities.
❗️Because co-creation avoids one-size-fits-all solutions and builds ownership from the start.
❗️And because community-driven skills development creates change that lasts.
#CommunityGrowsTogether
Sustika is one of the kindest souls to visit our home 🌿 Her work and connection touched many in our community, opening hearts to the world of co-creation. Grateful for her and the community she’s helped grow. 🤍
Early Childhood Development in Focus 🌱
As part of our Early Childhood Development Program, Ulrike and Michelle are some of our agents contributing to meaningful educational change.
At Eden Vision School, Ulrike is supporting play-based learning fostering cognitive and social growth through interactive games and movement activities, together with teachers.
Meanwhile, Michelle’s been advancing the Montessori curriculum conversion, promoting a child-centered approach that nurtures independence and curiosity.
Together, agents’ efforts are helping to create enriched, engaging learning and empowering environments for teachers and our children. 🌟
Reflection on the past weeks and ever growing community that puts hearts and souls on deck to bring dreams to life. Thank you for believing in Umoja (Oneness; Unity).
People showing up. Community thriving. Impact happening.
We might be quiet here, but the work is loud where it counts. #CommunityGrowsTogether ❤️
✨ A Special Moment in Our Community
This week, one of our incredible volunteers had the opportunity to stay in one of Umoja’s partner communities outside of Arusha, where we’ve built our center in collaboration with the Maasai people.
Here’s what she shared:
“I hadn’t realized how deeply Umoja was involved with the Maasai village until I visited two weeks ago. As a professional working in history, I was connected to what I study and teach about ancient settlements and communities.
Of all the experiences I’ve had in Tanzania, these days were truly the best. The way I was welcomed by the family, the privilege and the opportunity to get involved with the community - was something that will stay with me forever.”
We’re honored to witness these connections being made through cultural exchange, mutual respect, and shared learning. 💛

Another testimony to the wonderful connection between foreign and local agents of change. Meet our returning volunteer @alexandraoconnor96 that will be joining strengths with us once again on the ground to share her passion!

🎨 Art Therapy Workshop – Session 1 and 2
We kicked things off by exploring the Feelings Wheel and the Colour Wheel, connecting colors with emotions in creative, personal ways.
Participants expressed how they felt today using only color — no words needed. 🖌️💭
We also reflected on how colors both reflect our feelings and influence our moods.
We are currently preparing visual stories from our communities - stay tuned. In the meantime, follow our journey on social media.
